Getting started

How do I start?

Download Gesso, open it and press New file. Design by hand, or ask your AI — ChatGPT, Claude, or an agent in the Terminal. See Get started.

Does Gesso run on Windows or Linux?

Gesso is on macOS today. Windows and Linux are coming.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Your files are on your computer. Only agents on the internet need a connection.

Can an agent work while Gesso is closed?

No — agents build through the open app, because that's where your files are. Keep Gesso open, and signed in for online agents.

Who can see my designs?

Only you and the agents you allow. Each account's agents reach only that account's app, and you can disconnect any agent at any time in Settings → Agents.

Troubleshooting

An agent can't connect

Make sure Gesso is open. For an online agent, check Settings → Agents says Connected. Then restart the agent. More in Agents → troubleshooting.

The agent says it has no Gesso tools

Its connection has gone stale. Start a new session in the agent; in Cursor, switch the server off and on.

Changes aren't showing up

An agent works in the file it created or opened. Ask it which file it's in, or ask it to open the one you're looking at.

I was signed out

Your account signed in on another computer — it can be signed in on one at a time. Sign in again here to bring your agents back to this computer.

Behind a company network

If signing in or online agents fail behind a proxy, VPN or firewall, allow www.gesso.online.
